I, Shannon, am an artist based in Ucluelet, located on the western edge of Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Immersed in the natural beauty and vibrant wildlife of the west coast, I draw endless inspiration from the environment that surrounds me. From the wildlife I encounter during walks, kayaking trips, and paddle boarding excursions, to the raw energy of the landscape itself, My work is deeply connected to the land and its stories. ​ Storytelling is at the heart of My creative process. Through my art, I work to bring the land and its animal inhabitants to life, capturing fleeting moments of connection, emotion, and energy. My paintings primarily utilize acrylic on canvas, though I have also created with oils and other mixed media to create works that are rich in color, texture, and depth. My work uses rhythmic lines and harmonious color palettes lends a fluid, illustrative quality, evoking the movement and vitality of the natural world. ​ Many of my paintings begin with photos taken during encounters with local wildlife, which I then transform into expressive, dynamic works of art. Recently, I have become particularly drawn to the play of light and reflection in water, exploring how distortions and the fluidity of water can mirror the essence of my subjects. My work, captures not just the image of an animal or landscape, but the emotional resonance of these moments—their energy and their connection to the larger environment.
